This New Moon is Thursday the 5th of September and is in the sign of Virgo. In some ways we see this time as a new year -a fresh start. People are back at school, holidays are over, and we get back to the “grind”. We get organized for school and work, we organize our food for lunches and other meals. Perhaps we start and exercise program. We check through our closets and start organizing fall clothes.
The summer has a more relaxed feel to it. We take time to enjoy ourselves, spending more time outside in nature, connecting with people. The tendency now, with Virgo, is to focus more inward, on the self. It’s time to take stock of how we are feeling physically. Perhaps we need to shift our diet and get back to and exercise program. Perhaps we need to see someone in the healing arts to help shift some patterns or belief systems. Virgo is very connected to the use of herbs and aromatherapy. I noticed that I have started drinking my Stinging Nettle tea again.
As we move into autumn, we will be transmuting and transforming what no longer serves us, so at some level we are organizing for that. We are getting ready for rebirth, especially this year. This whole year seem to me to be about rebirth, getting ready to be birthed into whom we truly are.
This is a grand time to reaffirm those structures in our lives that worked for us, and to bring in new ones as needed. Structure can be very grounding in a world full of chaos and uncertainty. We are beginning the task of clearing so we can move forward, making room for the new. It helps to be grounded before we take that next step.
People born under the sign of Virgo are efficient, punctual and great at looking after the details. If not, perhaps these are qualities they’re here to learn. Take advantage of the support Virgo gives us and catch up on paperwork, filing, and create the habit of checking the details. That requires focus, another of Virgo’s specialties.
The Virgo desire to create order out of chaos, to organize everything, can, if we are not careful, lead to a rigid way of being. Perfectionism is not a blessing. Many people spend a lot of time getting rid of the belief they need to be perfect. We grow much faster when we are willing to make mistakes.
Physically, Virgo rules the bowels and intestines, digestion, and the solar plexus. Thus, this is a great time to look at what we’re eating and how much exercise we’re getting. Large Intestine rules holding on and letting go of those habits, emotions, behaviour patterns and thoughtforms that no longer serve us. So let go with ease.
If you are setting intent this New Moon, here are some samples:
- *I am asking to make the transition from summer into fall, and all that entails, with grace and awareness.
- *I am asking for the support I need in order to make the changes I need to make on all levels, with ease.
- *I am asking for the inspiration, the tools and the focus to organize my work space so that it functions efficiently and does all that I need it to do.
- I am asking to give up needing to be perfect and be willing to make whatever mistakes I need to in order to grow.
