We have moved into the sign of Capricorn, with the New Moon being on January 1st. Capricorn is an earth sign. We have clipped the wings of high-flying Sagittarius and brought her down to earth – grounded her, to deal with the nitty gritty basics of security, responsibility, goals and being successful.
With Capricorn, we learn to take responsibility for whom we are, for where we are. We learn not to blame others for our mistakes and to rejoice and own our triumphs. We take an honest, grounded look at our lives and who we are and accept that. We need to do this before we can move forward. We need a platform from which to leap into the new.
We need to look at our security issues, how safe we feel in ourselves, in our lives, in our neighbourhoods and cities? How secure are we in our finances? Do we have enough money to sustain ourselves now and in the future? This is the season where we look into these matters, as we do our taxes and set up our RRSPs.
For me, the first half of Capricorn is about owning where I am in these areas. The second half of Capricorn, for me, is to look at where I can improve in these areas and begin to see how I can change, how I can be more responsible, feel safer in myself and in my environment.
It is also time to expand our awareness to include others. It’s time to take a more global view and include “the other”. How safe does the other feel in his or her environment or life.
I begin to plan, to set goals. I look at how I keep commitments. Do I follow up on what I say I will do? Do I feel safe being vulnerable, having an open heart?
People born under the sign of Capricorn can be ambitious, focused on the material world. They follow tradition and can be very aware of reputation – which is important to them.
They are aware of the authority figures in their lives – bosses, parents etc. Through owning where they are in life and planning for change they become aware of the “inner authority” that will guide them, using the ideals, sense of fairness and spiritual wisdoms gained in their journey through Sagittarius.
Capricorn can be a very serious, controlling energy, with all the talk of responsibility and success. Some of that Sagittarius flexibility, fun and lightness can be brought forward to make life easier.
Physically, Capricorn rules bones and joints. Those with arthritis and rheumatism may feel it more, so remember to keep yourself, including your thoughts, fluid and flexible. Gall Bladder, knees, and skin are also related to this sign.
If you are setting intent for this New Moon, here are some samples:
- I am asking to be aware of when I am not keeping my word or following up when I say I will, and to be more responsible in that area. I am also asking to be aware when I am being responsible so I may rejoice.
- I am asking to take an honest look at where I am in my life, without ego, and to make appropriate goals for me to grow and advance in my career, financial status and relationships.
- I am asking to be grounded as I move through my life so I am able to feel secure and make good decisions.
