October 4/5 is the New Moon in Libra. Libra is the sign of the scales – the sign of balance. So, those of us who struggle with work/life balance, the energies are with us. This is the perfect time to work on creating balance in our lives.  We live in duality, so balance is important. Not only do we need to create balance in ourselves, but we need to create it in our relationships. Both people in a relationship need to pull their weight. At the same time there needs to be support through the busy times and through the hard times, one person taking up the slack for the other when necessary. This is teamwork. This New Moon is Thursday the 5th of September and is in the sign of Virgo. In some ways we see this time as a new year  -a fresh start. People are back at school, holidays are over, and we get back to the “grind”. We get organized for school and work, we organize our food for lunches and other meals. Perhaps we start and exercise  program. We check through our closets and start organizing fall clothes. The summer has a more relaxed feel to it. We take time to enjoy ourselves, spending more time outside in nature, connecting with people. The tendency now, with Virgo, is to focus more inward, on the self. New Moon in Cancer is Monday July the 8th, 2013. It is a water sign. It is about home, nourishing, supporting, family and belonging somewhere. It is my feeling that we are being supported right now to come home to ourselves. Hopefully our families support and nourish us in this process. They may hold us and keep us safe, they may comfort us or just be there and listen. However, that support may not always take the form we would like it to. We may need someone to “push our buttons” so we will eventually release those buttons. They may do the “little things” that irritate or hurt us until we decide to release the need to be hurt or irritated. After the wonderful Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius, we have moved into the sign of Gemini. New moon in Gemini is Saturday the 8th of June, 2013. Gemini is an air sign and so it resonates with the mental body – or thought. Geminis are clever, quick thinking beings who appreciate the facts, enjoy formal education and connecting at an intellectual level. Geminis tend to be excitable people. They can be flightly and may need to be grounded frequently. That excitability may cross the line into nervousness, inability to make a decision and asking too many questions (a nervous habit that leads to no decisions). A good dose of grounding really helps. I have Gemini as my rising sign and was often ungrounded and not in my body. One of my Reiki Masters decided to do the Tera Mai grounding symbol over my feet every night for two months.

We are moving from Aries, a sign of fire and passion around new beginnings, to an earth sign, so that we may ground these passions and watch the seeds sprout. Taurus is a very sensual sign.
