On November 22 we moved out of the intense Scorpio energy into fun loving Sagittarius. Did you feel the difference? For 28 days we plumbed the inner depths, and now we get to bring what we learned into the light of day and put it to use. We see this happening with Wikileaks. Secrets (the dark) are coming to the light.Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign. Its’ energy is male, that of doing, and it is a sign of light and lightness. Forget taking things too seriously right now. Live in the moment and let the stress of the season run off your back. That’s the Sag. way to be. Dr. Sagittarius would say you need to laugh more, take it easy, do a meditation, take a risk, be impulsive, learn something new. Certainly don’t let yourself get bored! Oh, did anyone say travel to a beach, or visit ancient tombs? Sag. is with you there!
In the Northern Hemisphere, Sagittarius is the last sign in the dark time of the year. After December 21 (the shortest day of the year) the days get lighter, and we celebrate that on the Winter Solstice. That day is also Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini, so prepare for lots of energy. The seeds you sew at this New Moon will come to fruition at the Full Moon, so make your intent count. This is a great time to start a new project that will help you to understand the world around you, connect to others in a new way, see things differently. Sagittarius is a lover of the Truth. Part of their mission is to discover the truth about why we are here, how things work. They shoot their arrows (Sag is the Archer after all) into the air in search of Truth, often Universal Truth.
It’s also a great time to do some planning, including financial planning. I’m told the planets are in perfect alignment for that. Just remember that Mercury goes retrograde from the 9th/10th of December until the 30th. That means don’t sign any contracts until after the retrograde. Take the opportunity to review decisions you have made and things set in motion over the last couple of months to see if there is anything you might want to tweak. Retrogrades give us this opportunity.
One of the qualities that I love about Sagittarius is the ability to see the good in things and events. If we change our perspective just a bit, we can see the funny side or the good side of almost any situation. A friend shared this story from Reader’s Digest by Dan Greyling, with me the other day, and it just seemed to fit the Sagittarius energy. This is grossly paraphrased, but you will get the idea. It takes place in an airport, where a woman buys some cookies and sits to wait to board a plane. A gentleman sits down near her. She notices that he eats one of the cookies on the table in front of them. She feels a bit of anger, so she eats one too, to let him know that they are her cookies. He eats another, as does she. She becomes angrier and angrier. At last there is one cookie left. The man breaks it in two, eats half and pushes the other half towards her. She is now furious. His plane is called, and so he leaves. As she is getting ready to board her plane, she opens her purse, and there are her cookies, unopened.
Either one of these people could have been Sagittarian. They are generous and love to share, but also can be defensive and impulsive. Follow the “look before you leap” rule, think about what you’re going to say before you say it, and remember to laugh at yourself.
Have a great month. If I don’t see you, let me take this opportunity to wish the best of the season.
