The Scales of Balance

On September 22nd, at the Fall Equinox, we entered Libra, an air sign represented by the Scales

of Balance and Justice.

Most people look at Libra as being based on the scales of justice held by Themis, from Greek Mythology (Wikipedia.com). I tend to look at Libra as being associated with Ancient Egyptian mythology.

I look at the Egyptian goddess Maat – a concept of truth, harmony, law, morality, and justice. One of her roles dealt with the weighing of Souls (the soul resided in the heart), also called the weighing of the heart. Maat’s symbol is the ostrich feather. The soul of a person was weighed against her feather on the Scales of Justice. If the soul was as light as the feather, you were admitted into the afterlife.

Libra begins on the Fall Equinox – the balance point between light and dark. It is the day where daylight equals darkness. From this point on, we progressively lose light until we reach the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. We then begin the journey back to Light.

During Libra, we have the opportunity to take a discerning look at ourselves, to see how we balance. If Maat places our soul/heart on one side of the scales and her feather on the other, how would we fair? Would we, in our current state, be allowed into the afterlife? What do we need to release in order to become Light? To me, this is what the Autumn is all about. We cleanse ourselves before the Winter, our time of rest and reflection. When we are clear, we can dream more clearly, of what we want to create next time around. At the Spring Equinox we begin the journey anew, with our new goals and dreams.

Traditionally, Libra deals with areas of our lives that encompass balance and harmony. It rules relationships, partnerships and agreements between two people. If there are negotiations to be made, a Libra is a good one to do them.

Learning to be in relationship, to share, to be part of a team, to thrive in a one to one situation, is part of Libra’s domain. It deals with the polarities of life and relationship, with finding your balance in relationship, being supportive and accepting support.

So, if we weighed our hearts, would we find them open and accepting of others and their points of view? Would we find the diplomat or someone biased and narrow in focus?

Physically, Libra rules the Adrenals and the Kidneys.

Your mission, should you decide to accept, is to probe your heart, and begin to release what is holding you down, is blocking your Light. We need all the Light we can get.

Manifesting Joy

I looked over my notes for the Full Moon past, to see if there was anything that would indicate why so many people, including me, are “under the weather” right now. The only thing I found was Greg Scott talking about the mid-heaven in Scorpio bringing anything that is not yet healed to the surface. So, if you are not feeling well right now, is the situation showing you anything that is not yet healed? For me it was easy to figure out. Even with the flu, covid, a cold, whatever it is I am entertaining right now, I

I thought I Was totally Screwed

For a long time, I thought I was totally screwed. You may have guessed that my sun sign is Sagittarius – the symbol of which is a bare-chested strange looking guy with a bow and arrow, four legs and the back end of a horse. It’s a fire sign. What you probably don’t know, is that my rising sign is Gemini -the twins – double trouble. Gemini is an air sign and its symbol looks like a doorway to who knows where. Air ignites fire. Neither sign struck me as being particularly grounded, so I spent a lot of
