Thursday July 16 is New Moon in Cancer. This is a water sign, dealing with the emotional side of life. It’s a sign that deals with the home front, home and hearth, the Mother energy, the basis for our growth and ability to cope. Home and family often give us our biggest challenges and our biggest opportunities for growth. That is where we can belong, be accepted for who we are – or not. So this is a time for us to pull back, to go inward, to discover ourselves at a deeper level, to ground into who we are more deeply, to understand who we are more deeply, with reference to where we came from and where we are now. Often the home we came from influences the home we create. This is an opportunity to understand that, to ground into that knowing, to nurture ourselves and those who have helped us create who we are. It’s also an opportunity to create and nurture a solid base from which we can move forward.
We started this new journey in Aries when we planted our seeds. We had new dreams, new goals. The journey has taken us many places in a short time. Are we still the people we were when we started out in April? How have we changed? If there has been change, how do we nurture that part of us?
Part of that for me, is being more centred in my home and family. It grounds me and allows the energy, the emotions, to integrate more easily. One of my favourite ways to get in touch with home and hearth is to get down on my knees and scrub the floors. It’s a bit old fashioned, I guess, but those rhythms, those connections, that grounding, don’t seem as easy to make with a mop.
This year, 2015, is an 8 year in numerology (add up the 2+1+5). If you turn the number 8 on its side, you get the infinity sign. This sign represents balance (amongst other things). In Cancer, we are being asked to look at the balance in our lives pertaining to home, to family.
So, here are some questions:
Is there a balance between your home life and your work life?
Is there a balance in your family relationships?
Do you give as much as you receive?
Do you allow yourself to receive as much as you give?
Have you nurtured some one to day?
Have you been nurtured today – by someone else or by yourself?
What does nurturing mean to you?
What does nurturing mean to the important others in your life?
Cancer is also about understanding our own emotional processes – how we react and why. Taking a look at our family dynamics growing up can often give us answers. When we gain and understanding of ourselves at this level, it’s easier to understand, have empathy for others, be sensitive to their needs, to care. When we understand ourselves, are comfortable with and own our emotions and reactions (by doing some energetic work around them) it’s easier to be vulnerable and real in our relationships.
What we are building this month is a stable platform, a home base from which we can go forth and greet what is coming in the next lunar cycle with confidence. I’m here to help, if you need me.
