Ground, Release and Get Stuff Done
For most of this month we are in the sign of Virgo. I know Virgo traits fairly well as I’ve spent years getting rid of one of their traits and incorporating a few others. Perfectionism: Virgos tend to be perfectionists, which in and of itself is not a terrible thing, but it can be a true hindrance to getting anything done. I used to be a perfectionist, and worked hard to overcome it. One main reason for perfectionism is that it’s easier to keep working at something (because it won’t ever be perfect) than to risk putting it out there and not having it accepted. It takes a lot of confidence building and coming to the understanding that not everyone is going to resonate with your ideas, your opinions and what you do, nor should they. There would be little growth if we all agreed. Once we stop needing to
Ground and Focus
We’ve done the soul searching, discovered some truth about who we are at the core, who we want to be, during Sagittarius last lunar month. Now, in Capricorn, we do something about it – we start to plan. We are into an energy that is very earthy and materialistic. It’s time to get grounded, thread our way through the distractions of what is going on in the world and bring our focus to our own lives. Where are we and where are we going? And, how do we want to get there? Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac – the number 1 empowered by a zero. It is a time of new beginnings, of individuation – the attention on you. It is a time of planning, goal setting and understanding how you want to transform your life over the next twelve months. And so, I have some questions
Finding Connection
We entered the sign of Sagittarius around the 21st of November. This is a fire sign – bringing light and warmth to these dark days. Sag. is an optimistic and cheerful sign, looking to the bright side of things. The symbol for this sign is the Centaur – half man – half horse. This indicates that Sag. is deeply connected to nature, and the four feet of the Centaur help keep Sag. grounded. Centaurs , as the story goes, were a wild and savage lot, warring and raping etc., except for two of them, Pholos and Cheiron. Cheiron is who I believe Sagittarius is modeled on. He was good of heart, a seeker. He tutored Apollo, he was an advisor to many humans and deities, so he had a clear connection. He learned about medicine, the arts, science, philosophy, things the other Centaurs cared nothing for. His aim was to
Letting Go
This Sunday October 30, 2016, is New Moon in Scorpio. Scorpio is a water sign, so we know we are dealing with emotions. Last Lunar cycle we borrowed Maat’s Scales of Harmony and Balance to see how much we needed to release in order to relax and enjoy the winter (representing death, as much in nature dies) to come. Scorpio gives us the opportunity to release and transmute our excess baggage – all the fear, anger, frustration, grief we’ve accumulated over the year. It’s time to let it all go. When we let go of whatever does not serve us, we have more room for Light, for Love, and all things good. Sometimes we know what needs to be transmuted and let go. We can see it – it’s “in our face”. You can focus on that during the healing session below. Sometimes we do not know what needs to
The Scales of Balance
On September 22nd, at the Fall Equinox, we entered Libra, an air sign represented by the Scales of Balance and Justice. Most people look at Libra as being based on the scales of justice held by Themis, from Greek Mythology (Wikipedia.com). I tend to look at Libra as being associated with Ancient Egyptian mythology. I look at the Egyptian goddess Maat – a concept of truth, harmony, law, morality, and justice. One of her roles dealt with the weighing of Souls (the soul resided in the heart), also called the weighing of the heart. Maat’s symbol is the ostrich feather. The soul of a person was weighed against her feather on the Scales of Justice. If the soul was as light as the feather, you were admitted into the afterlife. Libra begins on the Fall Equinox – the balance point between light and dark. It is the day where daylight
The Devil is in the Details
Virgo is an earth sign, reminding us that being grounded and connected to the earth is important for success. People who are not grounded may be great at seeing the big picture, but to bring that picture into reality one needs to have laser focus and be able to clear up the details: things like reading the small print, anticipating needs and putting things in order. Being able to bring order out of chaos is a wonderful skill to have. Some people seem to do it naturally, others of us are just great at creating the chaos. I am one of those big picture, ideas type of people. Running a business, a household, a life on earth, it becomes apparent rather quickly that the skill of dealing with the details is essential. So, I set out to grow and change. I tended to flit from thing to thing,
